Harris - 60 years

Bob and Barbara Harris celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 18, 2013.

They were both born and raised in the Yakima Valley and have lived here all of their lives. They were high school sweethearts and were married on April 18, 1953 at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Yakima.

Bob is a long-time fruit grower with a special fondness for cherries and Barbara has had a full-time job raising her large family.

They have 9 children: Jody (Wayne) Burns of Bellevue, WA; Kathy (Sam) Weaver of Yakima; Terry Harris of Seattle, WA; Jim (Dianne) Harris of Moxee; Linda (Scott) Morse of Spokane, WA; Laura (Bill) Harris of Selah; Patrick (Erin) Harris of Helena, MT; John (Sara) Harris of Yakima; and Mark (aka Bubba) Harris of Seattle, WA.

They are wonderful grandparents to 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.Their family home is still the center of family celebrations, birthdays, weddings, and holidays. There really is “no place like home”.

Bill and Doris Durall of Puyallup celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, February 28th, 2013.

Bill Durall and Doris Breasaw were married February 28, 1943 in Algona and lived in the Tacoma area for 45 years, recently moving from Yakima and moved to Puyallup.

Mrs. Durall is a homemaker, and Mr. Durall is retired from Civil Service, serving at McChord Air Force Base as a firefighter, until retiring in 1975.

The couple have three children: Glen Durall of Yakima, Lana Billesbach & Jaye Travis of Puyallup. They also have 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Herman Daniel Hofman and Naomi Elizabeth den Hoed were married August 3, 2012 at the Sunnyside Netherlands Reformed Church.

The afternoon ceremony was officiated by the father of the groom. A reception followed at the home of the bride’s parents. Naomi is the daughter of Archie and Mari den Hoed of Grandview. Herman is the son of the Rev. H. and Nellie Hofman of Dordrecht, The Netherlands. Grace den Hoed was the maid of honor and Andrew Spaans was the best man.

Other members of the wedding party included Brittany Van Roekel, Leah Bosma, Becca VanDam, Sam Vergunst, Andrew Vergunst, John Van Zweden, Marnix Hofman, Sam den Hoed and Reuben Hofman. Following a trip to Cannon Beach, OR the couple will be at home in Sioux Center, IA.The bride graduated from Sunnyside Christian High School. The groom graduated from the Netherlands Reformed Christian High School in Rock Valley, IA. The bride and groom will both graduate from Dordt College in May with an Ag Business degree and History degree respectively. The groom will pursue a law degree at Michigan State University.

Mark and Pam Baker of Yakima, WA are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Meghan Baker, to Lance LaBarr the son of Denise LaBarr of Sanford, FL. and Irv (Rhonda) LaBarr of Tieton, WA.

The bride-to-be graduated from West Valley High School in 2004, and is employed with Yakima Gastroenterology Associates. The groom-to-be graduated from Naches Valley High School in 2004, and is employed with Castle Pump.

A July wedding is planned at Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens on Kauai, HI.

Stephen and Tammy Bangs of Toppenish and Orville Casey and Michelle Ferderer of Reardan, are pleased to announce the engagement of their children Abby Louise Bangs and Orville Jacob Ferderer.

The bride-elect is a 2009 graduate of Sunnyside Christian High School and is currently in the Dental Hygiene Program at Yakima Valley Community College. The groom-to-be is a 2007 graduate of Reardan High School. He received his Associates Degree from Spokane Falls Community College and is a farmer in Toppenish.

A July 27, 2013 wedding is planned at Shadow Lake Ranch in Prosser, Washington.

The bride-to-be graduated from Selah High School and recently graduated from Central Washington University with a BA in education. She is currently employed with Coca Cola bottling of Yakima. The groom-to-be graduated from Davis High School and is currently employed with Les Schwab Tires.

A June 22, 2013 wedding is planned at Fontaine Estates Winery in Naches, WA.

The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Sunnyside High School, a graduate of Perry Technical Institute, and currently works for Highland Hills Health and Counseling Center in Yakima, WA.

The groom-to-be is a 2006 graduate of Sunnyside Christian High School, and graduate of Walla Walla Community College with a degree in diesel mechanics and is currently self-employed with Independent Ag Services in Sunnyside.

A May wedding is planned in Sunnyside.

Frank and Wendy Tomazin of Tacoma along with Robert and Mardi Hackett of Yakima are delighted to announce the engagement of their children, Ashley Tomazin and Reid Lundgren.

Reid and Ashley met while attending Central Washington University. Ashley graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma and from Central Washington with a degree in Family and Consumer Studies.

Reid graduated from East Valley High School in Yakima and from Central Washington with a degree in Construction Management.

Ashley currently works with the WIC Nutrition program in Yakima and Reid owns Tuff Construction in Moxee.

They had been dating four years when Reid “popped the question” while on a walk at the Arboretum with their dog, Tuff.

They will be married July 13, 2013 at Sawyer House in Zillah. Ashley Tomazin and Reid Lundgren, both of Moxee are to be married July 13, 2013.

The groom-to-be graduated from East Valley High School and Washington State University. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and is currently employed as an ophthalmic technician in Portland, Oregon.

An August 10, 2013 wedding is planned in Camas, Washington.

Charlie Brookes and Melissa Puente, both of Yakima, have announced their engagement. Melissa is the daughter of Dave Puente Jr. of Yelm and Mary Gas-person of Harrah. Charlie is the son of Donn and Tracy Brookes of Wapato.

Melissa graduated from West Valley High School and is the Business Office Director at Chesterley Meadows Assisted Living and is also a full time student at YVCC majoring in Business Administration.

Charlie graduated from Wapato High School and is a Field Service Specialist with DISH Network.

They will be married June 29, 2013 at the American Homestead in Naches, Washington.

Reno W. Black and Vickie L. Morris were married on April 1, 2013 (after an 8 year engagement), at the Pahrump Winery in Pahrump, NV.

They spent seven days in Las Vegas and are planning a trip to Maui later in the year.

Vickie is the daughter of the late Floyd Ray Morris and Dorothy D. Morris of Selah. Vickie was born in Yakima and graduated from Selah High school. She also graduated from Floral School of Portland. She then worked for 12 years as a fl oral designer.

Reno is the son of the late Noreen (Glahn) Black and the late Clifford L. Black. Reno was born in Bakersfield, CA and graduated with a GED from YVCC. He has been employed with Pexco extrusion for 19 years.

Tori Mulhair was maid of honor and Doug Mulhair was the best man.

Duffy and Barbara Deaver are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on April 30, 2013.

While on a football scholarship to Weber State College in Ogden UT, Duffy found his major in a college co-ed named Barbara! He declared his love and intention to marry her from the stage at a winter formal dance – and she fell for her football star, hook, line and sinker (the Rimrock Special kind!).

They married in Mt. Pleasant UT on April 30, 1963.

While living in Utah, Duffy and Barbara welcomed daughter Tracy and son Doug. They moved to Washington State in 1969, to join the family cattle hauling business, settling in Prosser. Once there, another daughter, Mickie was born and their family was complete.

In the spring of 1975, the family moved to Wapato when Duffy began a career in agriculture. He currently manages Wilson Irrigation in Buena, WA. Barbara worked many years as a bookkeeper, but retired to do her most important job as the CEO of her family!

Duffy and Barbara will be celebrating their Golden Anniversary at a family gathering later this summer.

Randy and Diana (Hester) Irwin were married on April 27, 1963. The couple celebrates 50 years of marriage.

Randy and Diana have lived in Yakima their entire married life. They have two children (Theresa and Max), three grandchildren (Megan, Cassandra, and Shayla), and two great-grandchildren (Nathan and Jaylee). Extended family includes Becky, Madison and Morgan as well as Nick Andrews, USN.

Randy retired from KIMA TV, and Diana retired from The Dolsen Company.

Herbert Coyner and Karen Lesinski were married April 28, 1973 in Flushing, Michigan. They have lived in Yakima since 1974.

Herb retired from Del Monte last month after almost 38 years and Karen is still working for the Yakima School District.

They raised 4 sons, Brad & Tim (deceased), David, Kevin (Sara) and two grandsons, Bryce and Karter all of Yakima.

A fishing trip is planned for this weekend.

Jenny attended West Valley High School in Yakima. After high school the bride-to-be has been employed in the office administration and banking industries. Since 2009 Jenny has been with Fiesta Foods of Yakima as an office administrations manager and social media liaison.

Justin graduated from West Valley High School in Yakima. The groom-to-be has served in the Washignton State National Guard since 2006, including a deployment to Iraq in 2008/2009. Justin’s civilian employment is through MATES at the Yakima Training Center as a mechanic.

A beautiful wedding is being planned for September 28, 2013 in Yakima.

The bride-to-be and groom-to-be both graduated from Wapato High School. Antoinette graduated in 2004 from Yakima Valley Community College earning two Associates of Applied Science Degrees, one as a Legal Office Assistant and the other as an Administrative Assistant. She is currently employed at the Yakima County Superior Courthouse. Alex graduated in 2008 from the Automotive Technology Program at Perry Technical Institute. He is currently employed at Yakima Regional Hospital.

An August 17th wedding is planned at Sawyer House in Zillah, WA.
